Guide - Can Memories Be Trusted?

When working with trauma survivors, one question that frequently arises is whether their memories (or lack of memory) can be trusted to be accurate. Although the scientific study of memory and its mechanisms is relatively young, understanding how memory works and the distinctions between ordinary and traumatic memory can help the therapist guide clients through their own questions, struggles, and acceptance of memory.
